Chelsea signed Victor Moses from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2012 days after starting against them in the opening game in the 2012 Barclays premier league season.
Competition for places became tough as Belgium’s golden boy, Eden Hazard also arrived the same season.
He had to go on loan when his Chelsea career stagnated. He had three uninspiring loan spells at Liverpool, Stoke City, and West Ham United.
Antonio Conte’s Appointment
In the summer of 2015, Chelsea appointed Italian coach, Antonio Conte who then replaced Jose Mourinho.
Antonio immediately reinstalled the Nigerian winger back into the starting 11 by converting him into a wingback in a 3-4-3 system.
Chelsea went on to win the Barclays Premier league that year.
He became a key member of Conte’s 3-4-3 system before he was sacked in 2018.
”It was an amazing first season for me under Antonio Conte and I’ll always respect him for that, he’s an amazing man.
I’ve never played that wing-back position before. When the manager came in, he talked me through it and then put me there.
‘It was good to have the manager’s support, and he backed me and gave me the confidence to go out there and express myself” he said!
